Hello Stranger

Sometimes known as 'the other Elder Hall' this modest building holds an impressive history.

Once the headquarters of the Adelaide Benevolent and Strangers’ Friend Society, this historic building tucked away on Morialta street is named for their benefactor, Sir Thomas Elder.

The society survived the embezzlement of over 60 pounds in the 1850s by then Secretary William Maguire, and the hardships of the economic depression in the 1880s through to the 1890s. The organisation helped countless South Australians in need, and continues to operate today under the name of the Adelaide Benevolent Society.

Note: This isn't the location of the cache, just the location of the historic site.
